Ellensburg Rodeo will feature blowout bronc riding
May 22, 2008
Ellensburg Rodeo fans will have an action-packed bronc riding event added this year. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 and feature about 35 riders competing for a purse of $15,000.
In past years, the Ellensburg Rodeo's competitive events have wrapped up earlier in the day on Sunday and been followed by the Ellensburg Rodeo Posse Night Show. This year the posse will perform after the Blowout Bronc Riding. The show, now in its 62nd year, features various drills and competitions such as barrel racing, a team pole bending flag race, California stake race, bareback relay race, cowboy polo and a trailer race.
The fair, located right next to the rodeo, at the Kittitas County Event Center, is open until 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The theater will offer some matinees, Burke said, with admission discounted to $20 or $25. Village Roadshow runs similar theaters in Australia, Europe and Asia. Audiences there typically spend about $60 per person, including the ticket price.
Tickets to Blowout Bronc Riding are $12 and can be purchased by calling (800) 637-2444, at the rodeo's office, 609 N. Main St., in Ellensburg, or at the Ellensburg Rodeo Fairgrounds on the day of the event.
